Our is Green Vision

The Carvico Group’s activity is not confined to just offering customers cutting-edge fabrics through the research of new technologies and production process improvements; it has always committed to sustainable development through an Environmental Policy aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its companies in the region.

Protecting the health of its employees and the community and caring for and protecting the environment, are responsibilities that Carvico Group has always taken on with total dedication. Even back in 1962, way before other industries, the company had begun to embrace various principles of environmental ethics. Over the years, this approach has become known as the company’s "Green Vision", a key contributing aspect of Carvico Group’s management strategy, bringing about the creation of clear-cut business activities, from the planting out of areas surrounding the Group’s workplaces to the implementation of facilities for the homogenisation of water and monitoring of gas emissions.

Planting

Back when the business had just started out, the surrounding areas of company premises belonging to Carvico Group were thoroughly planted out to ensure greater absorption of CO2 emissions, and in doing so, contributed to protecting the health of employees, the region, and the planet. Unlike other industries in the field that only began looking into environmental ethics in 2005 when prompted by the publication of the Kyoto Protocol, Carvico Group has demonstrated a long-standing interest in environmental issues, such as the greenhouse effect, acid rain, and global warming.

So, in addition to the creation and conservation of green spaces surrounding the company premises, particular attention has been (and continues to be) placed on monitoring fumes and gas emissions.

Monitoring fumes

The careful monitoring of atmospheric emissions is another very effective operation that has been applied since 2001 Thanks to the use of last generation machinery, quantities of oil and volatile compounds present in the emitted fumes can now be assessed and, if necessary, temperatures can also be lowered to a level that is below the standard set by existing regulations, to ensure minimal environmental impact.

Aware of environmental issues and their own ecological responsibility, Carvico Group companies are working hard to reduce harmful emissions and improve air quality in the regions that are home to their operating plants.

Water treatment

The textile industry requires that plenty of water be used during the various stages of production, especially during the dyeing process. Carvico Group always aims at developing manufacturing processes that consume fewer resources and dispose of the majority of polluting waste. For this reason, Carvico installed a modern system at all of the company's plants that deals with the homogenisation and chemical treatment of water, breaking down some of the pollutants from the industrial waste water before it flows into the treatment system.

Solar Energy

Carvico Group has a lasting commitment to using clean and renewable energy where possible, as demonstrated by their decision to invest in a large installation of last-generation photovoltaic panels that run on special batteries, trapping and storing solar energy. This guarantees continuity in the manufacturing processes of the companies belonging to the Group, which continues to set itself clear targets in terms of eco-sustainability.

Indeed, solar panels allow solar energy to be converted into electricity, reducing greenhouse emissions. The end result is a development that is sustainable, but whose environmental impact is minimal because it is clean and renewable energy that is used as opposed to fossil fuels, which pollute the environment.

Oeko-Tex

All of Carvico Group fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified, as they contain no substances that can harm the skin; this is why they are recognised throughout the world as high-quality products, perfectly safe for the end wearer.
The Oeko-Tex label certifies that fabrics produced by the Group have been examined according to international criteria by independent research institutes and analysed according to standard test criteria scientifically proven. To obtain Oeko-Tex certification, all components of the textile must comply with the specific requirements: being free from allergy-inducing or potentially carcinogenic dyestuffs, pesticides not exceeding the threshold amount and a skin-compatible pH-value.

With Oeko-Tex certification, Carvico Group can proudly guarantee that their fabrics are manufactured to protect the consumers and the planet. “Confidence in Textiles” is the Oeko-Tex slogan that has become a synonym worldwide for responsible production, from the sourcing of raw materials to the sale of "clean" and high-quality products.

Green Vision in numbers

Carvico Group has always stood out for its commitment in the protection of the environment and this has produced great results. Over the last 5 years, the Group has managed to reduce energy consumption in terms of volumes produced through continuous investment in environmental protection, supported by a strict code of ethics known as the company's Green Vision.

Between 2002 and 2007, periodic inspections of the facilities meant that the Group was able to cut back on natural gas consumption by 15% for every metre of fabric produced, equal to the annual consumption of 2050 average Italian households. By carrying out a process that allows the purification and recovery of wastewater, the Group has managed to reduce water consumption by 30% for every metre of fabric produced, sufficient to fill 443 Olympic swimming pools! Moreover, thanks to the installation of photovoltaic solar panels, the Group has been able to reduce its electricity expenditure, which in the last 5 years has decreased by 10% for every metre produced, comparable to the annual consumption of a Central African Republic.
